What do I do with my old electronics?
Intercon Solutions CEO and Schererville resident Brian Brundage marked the holiday season in a special way. The certified electronics recycler prepared for the holiday shopping season by working with several shopping centers to set up temporary kiosks from "Black Friday" through the New Year´s season. These fun and interactive promotional booths offered consumers a chance to learn the benefits of proper recycling as well as drop off old electronics before they purchased new products.
"The idea is to promote good recycling practices as we move into the New Year with new gadgets. Cell phones and other electronics continue to trim down and shrink while waste and hazardous materials grow," says Brian. "We all so desperately want the latest that we often carelessly dispose of our old items, being in such a haste to get rid of them. We all want the new, tiny gadgets, forgetting to realize that tossing our older, larger ones in dumpster contributes to making our environment unhealthy and unsafe."
Their unique recycling process concentrates exclusively on recovering raw materials. All electronics are physically de-manufactured and destroyed, the only method that guarantees hard drives and other data storage media are completely sanitized. This provides corporations and individuals the assurance that they are in compliance with government regulations and ahead of any identity or trade secret theft while remaining on top of EPA´s and advocacy groups´ standards.
